Black Swan Mantilla is a large crescent-shaped shawl with a knitted-on fringed & beaded border. The pattern also includes a border variation without the beaded fringe.

Knit on 3.5mm/US4 needles with approximately 50g/700m/770yds of Titanwool Merinos Extra 100% wool 214 black.

The pdf contains concise instructions, two charts for the main body of the shawl, and two charted options (with and without fringe) for the knitted-on border.

Dimensions after blocking: roughly circular, 39in/100cm across, 15.5in/40cm at center back (the unfringed version is slightly smaller).

400 size 6 black opaque glass beads are added to the fringed border during knitting, and a further 1,197 beads (a mix of size 6 & 8, various colors) are strung along the bottom edge with a sewing needle and thread after blocking. (Weight of fringed version: approximately 118g).
That sounds like a lot of work, but it’s actually quite enjoyable, and a great way to use up quantities of beads left over from other projects.
The plainer knitted-on border has no fringe, and requires 44 beads.
