Pulling together only knits, purls and a few simple variations, Blackbird Knob is the kind of slouchy hat you may find yourself returning to again. The meandering texture of twisted rib and garter welts is suitable for anyone on your knitting list.

The ribbed pattern gives the hat flexibility to fit a variety of sizes, so the pattern is only given in two sizes, small and large, so choose the size closest to how you want the finished hat to fit. The sizes given are unstretched. Twisted rib will shine even more when the hat is worn.

Sizes

  • Small: 17.5” x 9.5” (44.5 x 24.1 cm)
  • Large: 20” x 9.5” (50.8 x 24.1 cm)
  • The pattern includes instructions for a less slouchy version of the hat.

Blackbird Knob begins with a tubular cast on that flows seamlessly into the 1x1 ribbing, which requires a smaller needle. For knitters that wish to skip the tubular cast on, only the larger needle is used and instructions are included.
