There’s little to smile about being a Blobfish. They were voted the World’s Ugliest Animal in 2013. Blobfish live at depths of 2000-4000 feet in Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. Blobfish look very much like a normal fish until brought to the surface where their gelatinous bodies decompress. Regrettably, they are a casualty of deep sea fishing for lobsters and crabs and now listed as an endangered species (Psychrolutes marcidus).

The sad expression of a decompressed Blobfish both illustrates their plight and makes them very endearing creatures. This pattern will make an approximately 4” finished Blobfish. The body is unique in that it is constructed in one piece with the lips, nose and dorsal fin incorporated directly into the design rather than being sewn on as separate pieces. Only the pectoral fins are sewn on. As with all patterns that are proportionate, the finished item can be reduced or enlarged proportionately by using a larger hook with corresponding larger yarn

This pattern is rated Intermediate. It is an 11 page photo tutorial. This particular pattern does not include photos of the step by step crocheting process. There are limited photos of the more difficult steps. The maker needs to have good working of knowledge of crochet including SHORT ROWS. If you are not familiar with Short Rows--this pattern is not for you. Please understand before purchase that these skills are required. T

There are very detailed Assembly Instructions included with Full Color Photos.

As with all crochet patterns, a knowledge of basic stitches and the ability to increase and decrease is required. All Angelsun patterns use US abbreviations as set forth by Yarn Standards for publication. Please note that this varies from those used in the UK and possibly elsewhere.

No warranty is implied and no liability is assumed. Results may vary according to tension and skill level.
