The nature always seems to find its way to take advantage of the harsh environmental circumstances that it lives in and blooms, wherever it was planted, despite everything that plants have to struggle with. There is so much hope hidden in this act. And I find it both soothing and very inspiring, especially now, during the pandemic time.

Bloom where you’re planted shawl was designed for a KNIT WITH FRIENDS festival, a very important event that I personally hold dear to my heart because of the wonderful people that organize this festival for all of us to meet, knit and celebrate the community of knitters in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Knitting the shawl and seeing it now brings me close to the Friends that I will sadly not meet this year, but it also brings me so much hope for future, because no matter what we’re facing, I believe that we can grow, reach out to the sun, be better, be kinder and have hope for better days.
And bloom.
Just like the plants that bloom where they’re planted.

Pattern information
Bloom where you’re planted is a triangular shawl worked in garter stitch with floating colorwork pattern that is reminiscent of blossoming tree branches in spring. Shawl is worked from side to side, from pointed edge towards wider wing and is worked in two contrasting colors. Branch pattern requires working a small motif of the pattern every few rows as you go. Last section is worked in short rows.
