This pattern will allow you to make your formations of budding and blooming coral. There can be endless variations of height and number of buds as well as the size of the formation.

Using a G hook and worsted weight yarn, this is a great project to take with you when you’re out and about. It’s a modular project, and each one of the buds can be made in minutes, so it’s great to take out when you want something to work on while waiting for the bus, talking on the phone, etc. Even if you have just a little bit of time, you can still get that sense of completion (which I’m a total sucker for).

You will need to know how to (or be willing to google!) chain, single crochet, double crochet, and slip stitch. The time required depends on the size of the coral formation you want to make, but the ones shown above can be comfortably made in an evening.

The pattern is five pages long and has 12 color photographs, including some of the process of making the coral.
