The little ones will stay extra warm in this adorable character earflap hat. It’s guaranteed to attract smiles! It uses only one color of yarn and one basic stitch – the stockinette stitch, which when knit in the round is always a knit stitch. It is suggested that the skein of yarn is divided into two balls because the majority of the hat is knit using double-stranded yarn. The face is created with felt, and the templates are included in the pattern. Wash and dry your felt squares before laying out and cutting your patterns. This will keep the colors from bleeding when it is time to machine wash and dry the hat.

Directions are given at the end of the pattern for both a Turkish Cast-On, which is used for the earflaps, and for the Kitchener Stitch that is used for binding off the bottom of the ears.
