Be aware !
The previous upload of the pattern contains an error in chart D row 6 : the first and last k2tog/ssk is incorrect a should be ignored.

This is corrected in the current version of the pattern ( Blue skies 2nd sept).

The pattern contains some instructions and charts.

Blue skies is knitted with a cotton blend yarn, but can be knitted with pure cotton, silk, linen or wool yarn.

I have included an extra chart of a smaller version. I have not knitted this yet and can only guess at the amount of yarn it requires (7 - 8 skeins possibly). I am planning on knitting this version in wool yarn at a later date.

The shawl is large : 225 x 108 cm. I would not advice knitting the large version if you plan to knit with a yarn that needs blocking.

To knit the shawl you need to know how to :
Read a chart
Cast on backward loops
Knit
Purl
K2tog (knit 2 together)
K2togtbl (knit 2 together through the back loop)
S2kp (sl2-k1-p2sso) : slip 2, knit 1, slip 2 over
OR
k3tog (knit 3 together)

The gauge given is a guide, not an absolute. Try knitting the 1st charted part of the pattern to see if you are happy with the needle size used for the yarn you chose.

The crochet hook size is just a suggestion. I found a smaller hook extremely annoying when trying to pull the fringe strands through the edge of the shawl.
