This is a long ribbed and cabled vest for a boy or girl. Loads of texture are provided with bobbles, cables, and a generous short-row collar with increases. The body is knitted in one piece back and forth to the armholes. The ribbing provides plenty of give, and can be blocked flat for a loose fit. The back has a simple cable, which branches out with more detail at the upper back for interest.

For a girl, use purple and pink for the trim. For a boy, use navy and grey. Kids grow out of their clothes so fast, I wanted this vest to be roomy, and something that could be worn Fall and Spring (and for those lucky enough, Winter too!) I also wanted it to be appealing to both boys and girls, with a classic look. I gave the back some extra detail at the top of the middle cable too, especially since kids are running away from you just as much as they are running to you.
