In collaboration with June Pryce Fiber Arts, the Bodacious scarf was designed for breast cancer awareness and to raise funds for research.

Everyone is aware of breast cancer but may not be aware of the stress of a diagnosis and the amount of time that will be spent waiting in doctors’ offices and for treatment. Bringing my knitting to all these appointments was a way to pass time, and also a way to calm my nerves, focus on something positive and constructive, and to be in control of something.

Bodacious is designed in sections, each one being easy to memorize so you can put down your work and find your place easily when you come back to it.

The scarf is knitted using one skein of Watch Hill Sparkle Fingering and one gradient set of Saunderstown Sock. The Sample is shown in Snow Bank (Main Color) and Bodacious (Contrast Colors).

You will need a US size 5 (3.75mm) needle; the sample was knitted using a 20” circular.

Exact gauge is not crucial. Use a needle size that gives you a fabric that you like, but be aware that a change in gauge can affect the amount of yarn used and the size of the finished scarf.

Lace, stripes, eyelets, garter ridges, and valve stitch are each represented.

The finished measurements are a width of 16” after blocking, and a length of 70” after blocking. Your measurements may vary, depending on how aggressively you decide to block. The sample was steam blocked, not wet blocked.
