Size: Small: 30, 32.

  • size 34, one box= 11
  • size 36, one box= 12
  • for smaller sizes, subtract 1 stitch.

Yarn: A; fine, 2-ply weaving yarn, of silver gray; 5 oz. including scarves

Gauge: No. 7 needle to knit gauge of 5 sts. to 1 inch.

Needles: Nos. 6, 7, 8, 9, 13.

Chart: one box 10 stitches and 10 ridges. For larger sizes, see above.

Units: Divided squares, triangles (cuffs) , divided triangles (cuffs and gusset), double wing unit (scarves).

To knit: This design is more simple in the hand than it appears charted. The back is of four divided squares beginning at the waistline on no. 7 needles, and rising to the two shoulder units on no. 8 needles. From the shoulder units, the sleeves-on no. 13 needles-are (Right) first PKed, returned and cast on, and (Left) first PKed, then returned and cast on. The cuffs are then picked up on smaller needles (7), knitting 2 stitches together as each divided square is PKed from the sleeve edge, thus halving the number of stitches for cuff.

Additional details are in the complete pattern.
