This is the sweater that got me the call from Bill Cosby, asking me to design and knit sweaters for the women on his more recent TV show. We did a beautiful, shaped version of this sweater in burgundy and cream, with a slightly smaller scale pattern, for the young woman who played his daughter on that show. That sweater was featured in a Valentine’s Day special show that also featured the amazing actors, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. No pressure, just a lot of quick knitting. June and Ken Bridgewater, of Rowan, could not have been kinder in getting the yarn to me in a timely fashion.

This is a great sweater to customize for yourself, as the Cosby experience shows. A smaller scale pattern was more in keeping with our actress and the demands of TV made impeccable shaping a must.

I would encourage every knitter to think about making the necessary changes to personalize a sweater for their body type.

A companion hat, with pattern design taken from the sweater’s lower border, is also included in the magazine.
