StitchJones’ Bollywood Merino is the loveliest variegated I have ever worked with. The colors are vivid, and paired with KP Palette Black, it yields a stunning, stained glass-like design. Sharon, the StitchJones, dyer, reminds us that when using a hand-dyed black yarn, steaming to block and subsequent dry cleaning is strongly recommended as opposed to wet blocking because had-dyed blacks run. It’s the nature of the beast. For this reason, I used KP Palette, but any vat-dyed black fingering wool will work.

Now you see it--now you don’t! These wonderful-looking mitts have a secret pocket that is hidden to protect your valuables while you use your hands. Stranding adds extra wool for extra warmth. Top can be unfolded and pulled shut to cover fingers, or folded down to cover pocket and expose those texting fingers. Layer over gloves for extra warmth and a nifty look. So much fun to knit!
