This design was inspired by Tom Bombadil from the Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R Tolkien. He was a great character, but was not included in the movie (probably for the sake of length!). Anyway, according to Tom’s song: “Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow; Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow.” Tom’s wife, Goldberry, the River’s Daughter first appears in the book dressed in green. Hence the colorway of this yarn! I love the way the colors wind around the sock like Tom’s paths; and if you look closely at small sections of the ribbing on this sock, you may see Tom’s hopping footprints as he leads the hobbits to safety.

Available for purchase in booklet with the rest of the first LotS series for $15 at The Unique Sheep website.
