Book For Baby

This pattern is available for free.

Use up left overs of yarn, a baby you love gets a book to learn colors, textures and page turning. The baby’s parents get a toy that can be washed.

Choose yarns that are safe to be chewed on (look at dyes) and good with lots of machine washings. Also with colors that are fun together. Use the needles that feel good to your hands with these yarns. If you remember (or wrote down) which size you used in the last project, use those. The cover should be a little bit stiffer than the pages, so maybe go down a needle size for that part though.

The constructions goes like this: a cover is knit with several rows of yarn over eyelets. Then pages are picked up and knit into pairs of eyelets, or added on in an applied method. The pages can be decorated with embroidery or crochet edgings as mine were.

I leave the size, gauge, and materials up to you. Feel free to email or comment if you’d like some help, but I can only help with numbers you provide the numbers that you have measured, so … yeah. But it will be fun for me to interact with you, so there is that!
