Bookshelf Beanie is a hat for all occasions - whether strolling on the beach in autumn or sitting with your favourite book in a draughty library.

The pattern comes in both close-fitting and slouchy versions and three different sizes - child/teen (50.5cm/20” head circumference), small adult (56cm/22” head circumference) and large adult (61cm/24” head circumference).

Yardage
Child/teen close fitting - 160 yards/45g
Child/teen slouchy - 190 yards/53g
Small adult close fitting - 175 yards/49g
Small adult slouchy - 210 yards/58g
Large adult close fitting - 210 yards/58g
Large adult slouchy - 280 yards/78g

(Weights given in Rowan Superfine Merino 4ply).

The slouchy version has a small amount of slouch but an option is given to make it more slouchy (this will affect your yardage).

Any fingering weight yarn which achieves gauge can be used including gradient yarns - have a look at the lovely gradient and solid yarns my test knitters used for inspiration!

Needles/Notions
3.25mm (US 3) circular needle - 16” length
Same size dpns for crown unless using magic loop.
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle

The hat is knit in reverse and turned the correct way round at the end so most of the main body is knit stitches.
