You must download SPIRO STAR by Helen Shrimpton to make this border. If you wish to use the border on your own 8 sided block, feel free of course.

This was developed as an addition to Helen Shrimpton’s infamous Spiro Star, since many of us felt that the original was a little wavy and needed a little more decorative effect.

The edging pattern itself is definitely a take-off from Cathedral Tablecloth by Celia Vanek. I re-designed the corners to better fit a square.

You could make this in DK or worsted/aranweight. The final stitch count is adjustable after the corner popcorn triangles are made, and there are guidelines to help with size adjustments, too.

As with all my patterns, it has been thoroughly tested and proofread, although mistakes may well slip through. Hook with confidence!
