Here is a free pattern for a baby cardigan and hat, using worsted weight yarn and size 9 needles. The cardigan is worked from the bottom up, separated for fronts and back, then seamed at shoulders with sleeves picked up and worked in the round.

It goes fairly quickly, and makes a nice cardigan and hat for a boy, using only 2 skeins of yarn. Very suitable for charity knitting!

Finished chest size is 21”, hat 17”, to fit a typical baby aged 3-12 months. Using a thinner yarn and smaller size needles, newborn or premie sizes can be made with no change to the pattern directions,
