“These knee-highs were inspired by a collection of lace-topped stockings knitted by my ancestors. Those stockings are plain Stockinette except for their elaborately patterned cuffs, with a single stitch at the back of the leg purled on alternate rounds to create a faux ‘seam.’ This modern interpretation of those stockings features a crocheted lace edge and a much larger gauge than its inspiration. Satin ribbon bows and springy super-wash sock yarn offset the sagging tendency of tall socks.”
