The pattern shows a way of doing stripes without ‘yarn crossing’. That makes the hat ‘seamless’ and it gives knitting the feeling of eternity. The stripes just never end….
Of course you can do the stripes also the traditional way, but you won’t want to.
It is knit bottom up and inside out, since I prefer knitting over purling and I wanted the braid to lay on purl stitches.
The pattern shows an overview which might help the advanced knitter to avoid following the round by round instructions for those, who need to be led through the project.
The braid and the eternity technique is explained by written instructions and charts. The latter has also photo tutorial.
Do the longer hat or the shorter one, they both feel and look great.
