Braids and Bees is a cozy, chunky winter hat with lots of fun texture. It’s the first in my Celtic Honey trio, which are three different hats designed around the theme of Celtic knots and the honeycomb stitch. Stay tuned for the next two patterns, which I’ll publish on the last Friday of October and the first Friday of November, 2017!

This pattern is rated intermediate and includes 1x1, 1x2, and 2x2 cables, m1, k2tog, ssk, an unusual decrease, and written and charted instructions. It is knitted in the round.

This is a great pattern to practice cabling without a cable needle. It’s an easy technique to learn that will make your cabling much smoother! Check out these written instructions or this video.

Sample shown in Malabrigo Chunky. Any bulky weight yarn can be substituted, but be sure to check the gauge.

Please post photos of your beautiful finished hats!
