I love shawls and shawlettes and crescent-ish shaped scarves, but what I don’t like about the top-down structure is the fact that the rows get crazy long at the end.

So I started playing around with a point-to-point scarf that works the bottom border as you go. It’s admittedly a very simple pattern, but there is nothing wrong with simple things. Simple things can still possess beauty and elegance.

This pattern comes with two variations: one is a trapezoidal scarf (first picture), and the other is a shallow triangular shawlette (second picture). Both are simple patterns to remember, work up in a flash, and use only a single skein of yarn--although nothing is stopping you from making it bigger if you like!

A video tutorial of this pattern is available here courtesy of FiberSpider. He’s also got a mod of the design that incorporates the double shell border (like in the Vicki Scarf) with this design, available here. Thanks so much, FiberSpider!

Items made from my patterns are intended for personal use, sale, or world domination--as long as I get a parking space wherever I want once the world is yours.
