Pattern Description from Interweave Knits, Summer 2009: “Deborah Newton styles the short, swingy Bricks and Mortar Tunic with wide stripes punctuated by simple offset eyelets to create a light fabric that doesn’t feel sheer. An unusually airy tape yarn provides slinky drape.”

Finished Size: 35½ (39, 42¾, 46¼, 49¾)“ bust circumference. Tunic shown measures 35½”, modeled with minimal ease.

Yarn: S. Charles Collezione Sahara (44% viscose, 20% linen, 36% bamboo; 87 yd 80 m/50 g): #02 sand, #05 citrus, and #03 blue mist, 3 (4, 4, 5, 5) balls each. Yarn distributed by Tahki Stacy Charles.

Needles: Sizes 8 (5 mm) and 9 (5.5 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Tapestry needle.

Notes:

  • Keep edge stitches in stockinette.
  • The armhole depth is somewhat adjustable, depending on the adjustment of the neck tie.
