This pattern may be unisex, but in this interesting basketweave texture I see a mostly men’s winter hat (and neck warmer, too). If you are skillful, it can be done in a day. You have written pattern stitch by stitch (in English), photo & video tutorials. This hat is knitted in the round, from the bottom up.

You need:
1. Required knowledge and skills: basic / advanced level of 2 color
brioche and knitting in the round;
2. Needles:
* 16” (40cm) circular needle for hat in US 7/4,5mm or (and)
* US 7/4,5mm DPN’s (4+1 double pointed needles, for crown
shaping);
* for women’s hat (or men’s size L), use US6/4mm needle;
* cable needle or clover stitch marker for br4st dec;
* tapestry needle(s) for weaving in ends;
3. Yarn:
* shown beanie – men’s size XL-XXL (for head circumference
62-66cm) is made with approx. 2 x 33gr or 2 x 73m~80yds of
Mondial Sublime yarns, 65% cotton, 35% merino extrafine;
1 ball has 50gr/110m ~ 120,3 yds; (you need 2/3 ball in MC
color – frosted green 817 and 2/3 ball in CC color – dark blue
816);
* If you use pure wool or mixed woolen yarn, I recommend 2
balls (1 light, 1 dark) of DK weight yarn, little thinner then
Sublime, 50gr / 120-133m ~ 131-145.5 yds in favorite color
combination;
4. Clover stitch markers – 9 pcs;

SIZE – XL - XXL men’s size (for head circumference 62-66cm) –
fabric is elastic enough:
depth – 22,5cm/9”; circumference – 54cm/21,6” (1”=2.5cm)
Gauge (4.5mm needles): in fixed brioche stitches: 14 sts/20 rows = 4”x4” = 10x10cm
(1 row consists of 1 row of MC and 1 row of CC yarn)
