The name for those mitts came because the design reminds me of those buildings in Brooklyn with the outside fire staircases. I love the place and the feeling (and the yarn shops) one can find on that side of NYC. The mitts are architectural like the buildings but simple, elegant, and a perfect first colorwork project for a beginner.
