A nod to the ruffles often seen on lady’s blouses in the 1920’s, our “Jabot” uses Bruges lace to create a ruffled scarf to keep your neck warm. Bruges Lace is made with very short rows with chain loops on the sides which are joined to future rows to shape the lace into a wavy loop pattern. Leaving one loop open allows you to pull the long end through, securing it around your neck.

jabot (zha-bO) – Decorative vertical ruffle attached to the neck of a lady’s blouse or dress. Origin: French – “frill”.

Bruges lace was at the height of fashion in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries… True Bruges lace is a bobbin lace that uses many threads at once… Ever the innovators, crocheters found a way to mimic this look with just a trusty crochet hook and thread. Bruges crochet lace is made from tiny short-rows with one solid section of typically double crochet and one section of chains.”
