The Burgonet Helmet was, in many ways, the successor to the medieval sallet. Used primarily in the late renaissance of the 16th century, this helmet offered similar protection to the sallet, but was considered to be lighter and easier to wear.

This pattern (version) of the Burgonet Helmet is written and designed by Day Dreams. It is styled for intermediate beginners with some sewing experience. The crocheted version of the Burgonet is perfect for staving off winter winds while having a little fun.

How to acheive the desired size is included with pattern. The guage is not particularly important as the pattern is designed to be as free form and fitted as possible to the wearer.

I suggest Red Heart or Caron in Heather Grey or Pewter with Black. I have made the helmet in a Turquoise with Purple and it turned out well. The colors are your choice!
