Twisted knit stitches weave themselves up the hat in panels of an Austrian pattern traditionally known as “Burning Love” (from Twisted-Stitch Knitting by Maria Erlbacher: Schoolhouse Press, 2009). At the crown, carefuly placed decreases narrow the panels until they disappear at the top of the hat.
