This hat arose from a service learning project my co-teacher and I do with our fourth graders. We teach them how to knit this felted hat on circular needles because the kids’ mistakes are almost “erased” by the felting process. We then donate all the hats to two charities that help low income families and the mentally ill in our area.

Until further notice, all proceeds from this particular pattern will be donated to Lakewood Elementary School’s “Busy Hands, Warm Heads” service learning project.
