But I Think I Came Up With Magician Socks (Doctor Who Inspired)

On the heels of my other Doctor Who inspired sock patterns, I am super excited to have collaborated with Julia of Pandia’s Jewels on another Doctor Who inspired sock pattern. This pattern is inspired by the 12th Doctor played by the incomparable Peter Capaldi.

The Design - These toe-up or cuff-down socks have a guitar string motif with a cable panel that represents the 12th Doctor’s travels in time (but also allude to his iconic eyebrows). The cable is called the Scotch Faggoting cable, appropriate since Peter Capaldi is Scottish.

Grab your yarn and your needles. ”I was hoping for minimalism, but I think I came up with magician.” Happy Knitting!

These socks are knit using the magic loop method (although the purchaser could easily adapt it for two circulars or double points).

This pattern includes toe-up and cuff-down instructions.

The knitter needs to be comfortable with the following techniques: knit, purl, knit two together (k2tog), knit through the back loop (ktbl), M1L, M1R, slipped stitches, slip slip knit (SSK), yarnovers (yo), cables, and wrap and turns (W+T). Instructions for all these techniques are included in the pattern. In addition, a video tutorial for the shadow wrap technique of W+T for short rows has been recorded by the designer.

This pattern includes instructions in both written and chart forms for 56 stitch, 64 stitch, and 72 stitch socks.

I’d like to express my immense gratitude to the creators of Doctor Who for their entertaining work. This design would never have been possible without their inspiration.

Huge thanks to my amazing test knitters: Andrea (angeiship), Ann (roocmc), Celeste (Celeste), GeorgeAnne (Stitchingplaza), Jayne (Jcstormy), Jennifer (initsox2), Julia (4jewels4), Katie (knitcrazykate), Kimberly (Napiersknits), & Mel (Melly-Bee)! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Pattern was tech edited by the phenomenal Rachel (porpoise)! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
