What do you see? Are there butterflies or diamonds? This stitch pattern is an optical illusion playing tricks on the eyes. One minute you see a butterfly; look again and you see diamonds.

This fun to knit textured stitch pattern makes up the body of this moebius cowl. A round of beaded eyelets and a gentle ruffle, reminiscent of fluttering butterfly wings, add the perfect finishing touch to this cozy cowl.

The pattern uses the Moebius Cast On developed by Cat Bordhi. A link to this cast on method is included in the pattern.

Pattern is both written and charted.

Materials
Yarn: Samples were made using fingering and sport weight yarns. Approximately 400 - 425 yards will make the cowl. DK weight or worsted weight could be used and would result in an overall larger cowl. Needle size should be adjusted accordingly. A solid or tonal will show the stitch pattern to best advantage.

Needles: 40” - 47” circular needles in sizes 4 and 5 as designed. The length is necessary to make the moebius

Beads: Size 6/0 seed beads. 72 beads required

Finished size: 11” high with a circumference of 26”.

Acknowlegements: Thanks to stlorenz for helping me see this design and to quilterlis, my most excellent tester.
