Butterfly Effect features a cabled lace border on the body and sleeve cuffs. A single iteration of this same motif appears on the centre back between the shoulder blades, which to me looks very much like a butterfly, or perhaps a moth.
The inspiration for this cardigan is from my shawl Liquid Geography. I took a small motif from the shawl border and adapted it to make an appealing cardigan border. I was very pleased to see that it could be further developed to make a single winged creature which I promptly placed on the centre back, like a woolly tattoo.

Vintage Purls: Superstar (fingering weight: 70% Polwarth, 20% silk, 10% merino) 380 metres (416 yards) per 100 grams. 3 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6) x 100 gram skeins.
Or approximately: 1037 (1160, 1288, 1439, 1613, 1718, 1857, 2008) metres / 1134 (1269, 1409, 1574, 1764, 1879, 2031, 2196) yards of fingering weight yarn.

Gauge
Stockinette gauge: 26 sts and 34 rows per 10 cm / 4 inches with 3.25mm needles.

Needles and Notions
3.25 mm (US 3) 100 cm (40 inches) length circular needle (main needle).
2.75 mm (US 2) 100 cm (40 inches) length circular needle for ribbing.
Cable needle for cabling.
Buttons: 9-10 15mm buttons.
