Button Jar is a crescent shaped shawlette that is solid knitted lace. It is worked from the bottom up, starting with a Spanish Lace Border, and then moving upwards into Old Danube Lace in the body. Knit using short rows to form the crescent shape, the body lace looks like circular buttons. Since I knit this shawlette using Madelinetosh’s Pashmina sport weight Merino Wool blend yarn in their “Button Jar Blue” shade, I decided to name this shawlette Button Jar. I used only one-360 yard skein to knit it. After blocking, it measures 16 inches at the center, deepest point, and is 5 1/2 feet end to end. Full written instructions, row counts, and chart are included in the pattern.
