Measurements: The pattern indicates that the hat circumference runs 13 inches for newborns, 14 inches for 6 months, and 16 inches for 12 months. The finished chest measurement is 19 inches for newborns, 20 inches for 6 months, and 21 inches for 12 months.

Suggested Yarn: The pattern calls for two colors. You will need 2 ounces of the first color and 3.5 ounces of the second color for the newborn size. You will need 2 ounces of the first color and 4 ounces of the second for the 6 months size. You will need 2.5 ounces of the first color and 4.5 ounces of the second for the 12 months size. The suggested yarn for the pattern comes in 7 ounce/575 yard skeins, so you shouldn’t need a full skein of either color for any size. Each ounce should contain approximately 82 yards.

Additional Materials: The pattern also calls for stitch holders, a yarn needle, 8 half inch novelty buttons, 7 half inch coordinating plain buttons, a sewing needle and white thread. If you want a pom-pom on your hat, a pom-pom maker would be useful.
