This pattern is in honor of my brother Robbie and is releasing on the anniversary of his burial. This is also Mental Health Week and the message serves to remind those that are struggling that they are not alone.

This is a free pattern, but if you can pay it forward, I ask that you donate to the AFSP or Project Semicolon to help those that do not have someone by their side. Links for both organizations are in my ravelry bio.

http://www.suicide.org/suicide-hotlines.html has links to all the national and international hotlines. If you are currently having suicidal thoughts, in the US you can call 911 and they will connect you to the national hotline at 1-800-273-8255. They also have a TTY option for the deaf at 1 800-799-4889

Please use them. Don’t let the dark win. You are enough. You should be here.

Pattern Premise:
If you’ve been following my patterns, you know that I lost my brother to suicide, and I have almost lost myself to that darkness as well.

This phrase rolled through my FB feed last summer, and it calls to me.

When you cannot see the light,
I will sit with you in the dark.

I would not still be here were it not for those that were, and still are, willing to sit by my side until I am able to see the light again.

Having made some of Jody Pyott’s patterns in the past, I knew this had to be a bobble blanket. I threw everything into Excel, did the math, and then wondered if I was going to have a conflict with Ms. Pyott’s followers. I decided to reach out to her to see if she wanted to release it herself, but she said that I could. So here we are.

Whether it is for you or the friend that sits with you/or you sit with, I hope the colors you choose represent your journey from dark to light. I subconsciously worked the sample from the darkest color and the word ‘dark’ to the lightest color and the word ‘light.’

May you always have that someone who will be by your side when you need them most. If you are blessed with the light, may you be that person for someone when they need somebody by their side in the dark. For the times you cannot be there, may the blanket serve in your stead.
