This is a digital PDF pattern with written instructions and photo guides for making a Corner to Corner (C2C) “herringbean” square and rectangle. The C2C herringbean stitch is a combination of the C2C bean stitch and the C2C herringbone hdc stitch that consists of alternating blocks of bean stitch and hhdc stitch rows. Like any other C2C project, it starts on one corner and ends on the opposite corner. This means that the blocks of crochet stitches create stripes that run diagonally on a crochet piece. While this stitch pattern tutorial contains basic directions for creating a C2C herringbean stitch piece, the crocheter has several options for customizing their piece. Along with the size and shape, you decide how many rows are in each block of stitches, how many times blocks are repeated, and with which stitch to start different parts of the pattern. This C2C stitch variation can be used to create a wide range of things in various sizes, from the small (washcloths) to large (scarves, blankets).

Skill Level: Intermediate
Written with US standard crochet terms and abbreviations. Requires familiarity and knowledge of C2C crochet. This stitch pattern involves switching between rows of hhdc stitches and bean stitches, along with working hhdc stitches in bean stitches and vice versa. Instructions for how and where to make hhdc stitches and bean stitches is included.
Materials: Any yarn or hook size can be used with this stitch. (The same weight yarn and hook size should be used for your whole crochet piece.) Stitch markers are recommended.
