The lemon peel stitch is a simple and easy stitch consisting of alternating single and double crochets. This creates a bumpy texture that is both visually pleasing and nice to the touch. The Corner to Corner (C2C) Lemon Peel Stitch crochet pattern creates a lemon peel stitch crochet piece that is worked diagonally. Unlike working the lemon peel stitch horizontally, where each row of stitches is stacked on top of the other and stays in the same direction, crocheting on the bias causes the stitches to slant from one corner at the bottom to the opposite corner at the top. This C2C stitch variation can be used to make a wide range of things in various sizes, from washcloths to cowls and scarves.

Skill Level: Experienced Beginner/Intermediate

Written with US standard crochet terms and abbreviations. Requires familiarity and knowledge of C2C crochet and how to make chain stitches, sc, dc, and decreases. Instructions for making a sc/dc decrease variation are included in the pattern.

Materials: Any yarn or hook can be used for this stitch pattern. (I’ve tried this stitch with several different types of yarn and it maintains its nice definition with every one.)
