This cable stocking pattern was inspired by Katie Cason’s Braided Cable Hats. I love the rustic look of the cable stockings hanging on the fireplace. I think it could look very cool to make a little row of these in an off-white…

I gave my first two stockings away, so I don’t know what the measurements were for the finished product. They might get dwarfed on a giant fireplace if you make them as written. Increase or decrease the size of the stockings by increasing or decreasing the starting chain by increments of five. Then, add more rows to the body and foot of the stocking as desired to keep it all in proportion.

I used a little less than 1 full skein of Red Heart yarn for each. I do have a bit of both left over. You could use that to make a hook to hang your stocking. For mine, I cut a bit of ribbon to the length I wanted.
