This dog features a simple cable knit motif from nose to tail. The head and body are shaped in the round using a series of short rows, with the limbs, tail, and ears knit separately and attached.

The motif is comprised of a basic twist and an interlaced cable. It’s totally optional if you’d just like to make a basic dog. If you can turn a heel to knit a sock, you can make this project.

You will need to be familiar with the following techniques:

Knit, Purl, Knit-in-the-Round, Cast on, Bind off, Knit Front and Back (Kfb), Knit Two Together (K2tog), Purl Two Together (P2tog), Wrap and Turn (W&T), along with basic cable knitting techniques.

Supplies:
Four DPNs, 80-100 yards of yarn, cable needle, batting, tapestry needle for assembly, safety eyes, short length of embroidery thread or yarn for the nose, stitch marker, pins to aid in assembly.

Buttons or embroidery can be used in place of safety eyes.
