I wanted to make a set of a hat and mittens for a friend. I really liked the Gingerbread Hat pattern, but could not find a mitten pattern using a similar weight yarn that was a good match. So I looked at a bunch of mitten patterns, and pretty much winged it and took detailed notes so that I could make the second mitten. They turned out well, so I figured I might as well put them out there in case anyone else wanted to make mittens to match this hat.

I used one skein each for the hat and the mittens.

I am not an actual designer, more just tinkered with some basic mitten patterns to come up with a variation that suited my needs. I’m happy to try to help if anyone gets stuck on my pattern. It has NOT been proofed or test knitted.

I did not swatch - I’m not a particularly loose or tight knitter. The mittens and hat fits me, and I think I have fairly average sized adult female hands.
