Perfect for keeping your hair off your face, without providing the heat of a hat, knitted headbands are a winter wardrobe staple.

These designs are a good way to practice cabling and making eyelets, and if you’re already familiar with those techniques you can use the patterns to make quick handmade gifts. Each band is approx. 8cm (3.5”) wide.

You will need 6mm needles, a 6mm cable needle for the cabled pattern, and up to 70g (105m) of chunky yarn for each headband.

Any standard chunky yarn that works to 14 sts and 20 rows to 4”/10cm should work, but please check the yardage carefully. Alternatively, you can use two strands of DK yarn held together.
