I wanted to make a hat for my husband, he’s an electrician and works outside a lot, we live in the UK so he usually needs to wear a hat. I wanted to make something a bit nicer than the plain black thermal ones he wears for work. I have designed this hat with cables along the bottom and right and left twists that look like wires zigzagging up the hat, ideal for an electrician!

I have designed a beanie and also a slouchy version so he has a choice (and I can pinch one too!). The hat is a medium and should fit most heads.

The mock cables are really easy to do and much quicker than normal cables.

I have used Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed in Aran. It’s 90% wool and 10% angora and comes in a beautiful range of colours. Other tweedy arans would also work well.

I hope you enjoy this pattern, let me know if you have any comments!
