The motifs on this traditionally shaped chullo were inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead sugar skulls from Latin cultures. The hat has sugar skulls and floral two colour borders decorated with random jewel shades in Duplicate Stitch (also known as Swiss Darning). If desired, more embroidery could be included as surface decoration either using a tapestry needle or a crochet hook. The hat is finished with earflaps worked down from the brim with a small central motif and I-cord ties with pompons. A third pompon decorates the centre of the crown.
