In celebration of Samhain, the Calaveras Shawl features tiny skulls peering from the lacework, honouring this time of autumn reflection. Additionally, beads are placed along the centre spine using a crochet hook, for a touch of sparkle.

The pattern is available in 2 versions : charted only, and written+charts, which includes the lace instructions written out in addition to the charts.

materials

yarn Wooly Wonka Fibers Nimue Sock, 50/50 silk and superwash merino, with 435 yards/100 grams per skein, 1 skein.

needles 3.75mm (US#5) circular needles. Shawl is knitted flat, but 60cm circular (minimum) recommended to accomodate stitches as the shawl grows wider.

sizing Top-width (wingspan):74” 188 cm; deepest depth: 17.5” 44.5 cm -- may be sized larger with more repeats and more yarn.

other approximately 170 seed beads size 6/0. Sample uses Miyuki in Dark Red (sliver lined); 2 stitch-markers, tapestry needle for weaving ends.

gauge 4.5 sts & 8 rows per 1-inch 2.54 cm square in garter stitch, blocked. Check your gauge and change needle size if required.
