New smaller version. I have rewritten this pattern to make the flower a little smaller.
Wear it with a T-shirt--it’s a necklace. Wear it with a coat--it’s a scarf. Waist--a belt. It could also be used as a curtain tie-back . Brighten up a drab day by wearing this lovely floral scarf.
It’s almost a flower sculpture with the round green stem, white gently curving petals and center yellow spike.
Calla lilies are so elegant and graceful I thought it would be a lovely design for a scarf. My previous floral lariats depict roses so I had to adapt the design to make a lily. One of my hobbies is cake decorating so instead of icing flowers, now I’m creating knitted flowers.
The regular knitted version can be worn as is or you might like to try your hand at felting. For the felted version a yarn that is 80% wool is required (not superwash or machine washable wool). You can felt the lariat using your washing machine and a mesh bag. Or you can also felt by hand in the sink.
The green stem and center spike are knitted on double pointed needles to make I-cord. Don’t be intimidated if you haven’t tried this technique before, it’s actually very easy. The white flower petal is knitted separately and then sewn on.
Length: 60 inches (152 cm).
Materials: You only need about 1 oz. of each color for the white and green, less for the center spike.
