CROCHET PATTERN. This crocheted purse has calla lilies used as the handles. The pattern instructions lead you through making a three dimensional calla lily which is then sewn onto the purse for the handle. The body of the purse is done in single crochet, seamlessly, all in one piece except for the optional pocket. The lilies look even more realistic if you choose to felt them. If wool is used, the purse may be felted using an ordinary washing machine. If you want to keep the look of the single crochet stitches, then don’t felt it and try a cotton or linen blend yarn. See photo 3 with Bernat Handicrafter yarn. Any type of medium weight yarn (4) may be used if the bag is not to be felted.
The lily may be made by itself to use as a lariat type necklace/scarf, belt or even a curtain tie-back
The finished felted purse is 11.5-10 X 11.5-10 in depending on the degree of felting.(25-29 X 25-29 cm) The not-felted purse is 12 X 12 in. (30.5 X 30.5 cm). The felted lariat is about 65 in (165 cm) long. The not-felted lariat is about 62 in. (157 cm) long.
This pattern is written using standard US/Canadian terminology. ( I believe UK, AU and NZ add one to each stitch so our single crochet is your double crochet)
Several photos are included with the written instructions to guide you.
