A few friends (enablers!) asked me to create a version of the shawl that the Duchess of Cambridge wore shopping. This triangular shawl is worked from side to side with short-row ruffles worked as you go and a lovely basketweave stitch pattern that reverses at the center back, forming a pretty design focus. The short row technique used here is super easy - turn, yarnover, and knit-together. Forget those confusing wrap-and turns. You’ll be happy you tried it.

Shawl pattern includes 4 sizes, P (S, M, L) - shown in medium.
Length: 56 (64, 72, 80)”
Mid-back length: 21 (24, 27, 30)”
Shawl shown is a medium, with points that hit at mid thigh, back point at lower back, and sides to the elbow - just like the duchess’s.

The pattern is written but also includes a supplementary chart - a visual aid : )
It is easily modified to accomodate a number of different yarns and gauges simply by adding or subtracting the number of repeats worked to the center. (The pattern tells you where.)

If using a fingering weight yarn, multiply yardage needed by 130%; if using a dk weight, multiply by 75%.
