Inspired by the shape of a small rectangular shoulder bag in Rowan Big Wool that I saw, I wanted to make a summer cross-body bag in the funky self-stripe Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn--it has a camouflage look that I like.

So I designed this bag and even though I knit it in a tight gauge, the yarn is very stretchy so I suggest lining it with a cotton quilting fabric so that it doesn’t stretch out of shape when it’s worn.

You can make it a shoulder bag simply by knitting a shorter strap--customize it to your taste.

Finished dimensions of the bag without the strap: 12” long x 4” wide x 5½“ high.

I added a magnet closure so that I don’t have to worry about it staying open. These are easy to find at Joann Fabrics.

It’s a quick project and a fun summer bag! Looks great with jeans.
