This Candy Cane Verbena is part of the new Christmas Collection.

Christmas is a favorite holiday for many of us. It’s the season where we come together and show our love and care in gifting ways. Decorating is also something many of us enjoy doing around this season. Decking our homes with something that we’ve crocheted ourselves is much more more pleasing and exciting. Add that extra excitement to your decor this holiday.

As we may all know, the candy cane is a huge part of the Christmas holiday. Christmas won’t be Christmas without them. Verbena Fun Facts

Verbenas, also called Vervains are from the family Verbenaceae, the family of vervains, that are mostly flowering plants found in tropical areas. They also go by Holy Herb, Herb of the Cross. Ancient Egyptians called it ‘tears of Isis’, believing the verbena flower grew from the tears of the fertility goddess, Isis.

Verbenas originate mostly from North and South America, as well as from Europe, and they tend to be mainly found in tropical and subtropical habitats.

They grow in colors including pink, red, blue, purple or white.
Verbenas have been used historically as an ingredient for medicinal purposes, such as herbal tea; while oil can also be extracted from the plant. In herbalism and folk medicine it is thought to be effective for treating a wide variety of ailments, including ear aches, arthritis pain and headaches.

Verbena flowers are also symbolically used to represent healing, creativity, and happiness. They are even used for protection against harm and evil.
