This elegant little dress is knitted in one piece, top down with no seams. It was designed especially to fit my knitted Hitty doll, but it also fits wooden Hitty dolls and many other similarly sized dolls such as: mini American Girl dolls, Tiny Betsy, and Madame Alexander Travel Friends.

I left off a few rounds in the skirt of the dress to shorten it for my mini American Girl dolls just because I prefer a shorter dress style on them.

Any fingering weight yarn should work just fine. You just need 25-30 yards, so this is a good use for those little balls you’ve probably been collecting.

See StarburstAcres’ mods on her project page to give the skirt a bit more flare.

I put the gauge in, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it. At this size it’s easier to just start and see if it will fit your doll rather than knit a gauge square. Since it’s knitted top down, you can try the dress on your doll as soon as the armholes are in, and you can get a really good idea of how it will fit once you join it in the round at the bottom of the bodice.
