Capelet Chihuly, designed by Donna, is number eight in her capelet
series and was designed specifically for the Chicago Yarn Crawl of 2021.

Capelet Chihuly, was inspired by and named in admiration of
Dale Chihuly’s Persian Glass series. This capelet design attempts
to capture the undulating stripes, bright contrasting colors and
organic quality of Dale Chihuly’s hand-blown glass forms.

Capelet Chihuly is knit top down, in one piece, with hand-dyed mohair on US 7 needles to create a light, sheer but opaque, drapey garment. Contrasting stripes of black and hot-coral fibers capture the vibrancy of Persian glass. The picot edging mimics the fluted glass and curvealinear forms inherent in these organic
hand blown glass shapes.
